Your Eyes; Flickering (Demo)

This morning I finally finished my song Your Eyes; Flickering. I've had most of the lyrics finished for more than a year, but never felt really satisfied with the chords/melody. Until now! I also added a new verse. I spent a few hours recording a demo version of the song. I like demo versions for several reasons. First of all, they feel raw and honest; you can really hear the initial ideas and thoughts. Second of all, they are good to have as a reference while you record your "final"/"serious" version of the song.

I don't think this song will be entirely acoustic when I record it the next time, but as for now it is.

Everything has drowned me
Nothing good comes from all the water
From the back of my eyes I can see the rain
From the outside you don’t see nothing
I’ve grown to be no one to you

The only time I’ll ever look back on
The only place I’ve ever loved
The darkness was a hole with edges so fragile
I can’t believe I’m still alone

You show up in my dreams from time to time
And when I think about it
It seems as if I still cannot really live without you
And even if it’s imaginary
It’s better than never seeing you at all

The only time I’ll ever look back on
The only place I’ve ever loved
The darkness was a hole with edges so fragile
I can’t believe I’m still alone

All I can recall is the two of us
Sitting with our backs against a wall
I don’t understand why you didn’t read me
While I turned my pages right in front of you
Your eyes; flickering
My heart; beating
I was hoping for something to come
For someone to care for me

I was never as important to you as you were to me
